themaids-blogThe Maids Columbus was just recently converted to the new template that is beginning to roll out to all of our old and new The Maids clients.  We are very excited to roll this out as it includes a lot of new features that will benefit each franchise greatly.  Obviously the big change is the color scheme and structure of the content, we kept our core site structure but improved on it greatly to make for a much friendlier and easier website experience.  Another big change is the rotating banner which will feature up to 6 different content that can be linked to, this give our clients flexibility to feature announcements, gift cards or other location specific events without overwhelming the visitor with all of it at once.  We've also made updates to the video and the zip code/map module, both which pop open in an elegant lightbox for easy viewing.

Another big change was the inclusion of social media and how important it has become so we made a point of emphasis in the footer and the header of each page.  Both location feature dynamic apps for easy Facebook, Twitter and Google interaction which makes it easy for the visitor to like the specific business. On top of including more social media, we've also added more location for content to be places.  Our previous template limited us on how content could be placed on the site without overwhelming the visitor with information and logos, this layout has helped alleviate that problem and really spread out the information equally across the entire web page.

We've recently completed a new The Maids franchise for current client Mark Gilbert. We have many years of experience working with The Maids franchise owners and we know that we can deliver the best results which is what expect with Mark's new website.  We used our standard The Maids template and utilized some of his old graphics sprinkled in with new and improved graphics.  We've also reworked the entire navigation from what he had before which will make visitors more comfortable when they come this site.  As always our focus is to turn visitors into customers so our core fundamentals have not changed for this particular The Maids website.

Climate RightTodd Arend from Climate Right came to us looking to revamp his old Yahoo based e-commerce website.  While it served the purpose of selling his portable heating and cooling units, it did not reflect his company's image.  We loved working with Todd and his team because they were very involved and asked all the right questions to how the site was built and where various website elements should go.  Climate Right was an unusual website design and build for Local Internet Leads, as it involved a fully built-in e-commerce (Magento) product pages in order for Todd and his team to take direct orders from their website.  Even thought it was a new venture for us, we really learned a lot and hope to offer the service as part of our packages in the future since we really feel it could benefit a lot of clients by allowing them to sell directly from their websites.  We are excited to work with Todd and the entire Climate Right team and hope that their site becomes a central location for individuals across the United States looking for portable heating and cooling units.

Got Bins Columbus OhioOwner and entrepreneur Greg Tuel came to us looking to get more web presence for his new portable storage and moving company called Bins®.  While his old site was good, it lacked many of the qualities of an SEO website.  It didn't have any keyworded pages to attract search engine visitors looking for portable storage and moving services, we've changed that with his new site.  He now has a fully functional website that includes keyword specific pages, blog, ordering form and we have plans to add an e-commerce side once we've established the website.

His website www.gotbins.com is a perfect example of taking a good foundation in terms of a website and building something that can be expanded and built upon so that Greg can expand his business.  It also gave us the opportunity to work with a new market and expand our knowledge base and create a lasting relationship with Greg and his team.  We look forward to working with Greg and Bins® in terms of making his website site a prominent location for individuals looking for portable storage and moving services.

Small Business Website Mistake - No Clear Call To Action

No matter what your business model is, whether it's leads generating, non-profit, etc. The single most important part of a small business website is their Call to Action. The most popular way to set up a call to action is a bold and simple contacts form usually associated with some type of enticing offer. Most websites that I've visited for prospective clients have absolutely NO clear call to action and if there is one, it is usually buried in the endless paragraphs and it’s usually just a text link! How can you get someone's attention or business if they have to read through paragraphs of junk just so that they can find your contacts form? Probably VERY unlikely that they will make it past the second paragraph before giving up and going to your competitions website which is better set up and easier to find the information the customer is looking for. If you aren’t leading users to commit to an action (buy a product, contact you or subscribe, for example), then you are losing them.

Driving traffic to your website is important, but that traffic is useless if your primary call to action is a plain “click here” link buried in a sea of text. Call-to-action buttons are a great way to grab the user’s attention, and these buttons can be the key to higher conversions. Investing time and consideration into creating successful calls to action can help guide users and address their needs while achieving your own business goals

badcontrast

We are looking at how contrast can greatly effect the effectiveness of your website.  How do you find a balance between too little and too much? These are the tough questions that I will try to answer.

First let's define what Contrast is - according to Wikipedia "Contrast is the difference in visual properties that makes an object (or its representation in an image) distinguishable from other objects and the background." Pretty standard but very important to know what we are distinguishing before going any further.
